DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines police say a fourth suspect has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in an August 10th home invasion that terrorized an Iowa mother and her three children. Fifty-nine-year-old Bobby McGee was arrested early yesterday morning in Des Moines on suspicion of robbery, burglary and four counts of false imprisonment.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Fire officials in western Iowa say a child has died after a Council Bluffs house fire. Flames swept through the Council Bluffs home around 6 a.m. Saturday. Fire officials say 4-year-old Leland Johnson was trapped in an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters were able to reach the boy, but he was pronounced dead at a Council Bluffs hospital. The boy’s mother and two other children escaped the home.

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa State Patrol says a head-on crash in southeastern Iowa has killed a 23-year-old Fairfield man. Des Moines television station KCCI reports the wreck happened Thursday on Highway 92 seven miles west of Oskaloosa, killing Derrikk Crawford. The semitrailer involved in the collision jackknifed into a ditch, injuring its 25-year-old driver.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — It’s been a brutal month for Lolo Jones. An over-the-top Olympic-style homecoming in her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, was exactly what Jones needed. An emotional Jones joined a cast of Iowa-based Olympians that included gymnast Gabby Douglas and wrestler Jake Varner, both gold medalists, in a raucous celebration on the campus of Drake University yesterday.
