DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Mitt Romney says he thinks he can win Michigan — and that if he does, he’ll win the presidency. Romney flew last night from Iowa to Michigan for a day of campaigning. He is expected to complete a five-day, six-state bus tour today.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa City woman suspected of running over and killing a friend is charged with drunken driving. Fifty-year-old Miranda Lalla allegedly hit 44-year-old Pamela Gross with her pickup truck Sunday. Police are still investigating.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Roman Catholic nuns on a nine-state bus tour protesting Republican federal budget proposals say they’re not trying to flout recent Vatican criticisms of socially active nuns. Sister Simone Campbell says the timing of the tour is in response to consideration of the federal budget in Congress. She says the group’s goal is to highlight the impact of the budget proposals on the poor.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa (AP) — Ames officials say one of the force’s sergeants drowned at a park. Officials say they were notified Sunday that Sgt. Howard Snider drowned at Geode State Park in Henry County. His most recent assignment was supervising the department’s Safe Neighborhoods team.
