Trojanns Place 2nd at Cardinal Relays

(Clarinda) — The Atlantic Trojann track team took second place at the Cardinal Relay’s track meet Tuesday, in Clarinda, with 125 points. Creston was first with 148 points. Glenwood was 3rd with 108-points; Clarinda was in 4th place with 69-points; Council Bluffs/Thomas Jefferson placed 5th with 61 points; Shenandoah was 6th with 57 points, and Red Oak’s 15 points placed them last in team scoring.

The Trojann’s Melanie Nielsen was a double winner, taking 1st place in both the 100- and 200-meters; Ali Krogman was a triple winner, taking 1st place in the 3,000 and 1,500, and – she anchored the winning Distance Medley.

On the Distance Medley team was Kristin Johnk, Erin Shannon, Samantha Peterson, and Krogman. Peterson picked up a win in the 800 in a very good time of 2:30.9.  Atlantic’s Shuttle Hurdle team of Paige Kennon, McKenzie Holmes, Samantha McConnell and Amanda Gude were winners at the event, as well.

Second-place finishers for the Trojanns included: 400-Alex Hartwig; the 4×200 squad – Kristin Johnk, Taylor Berry, Amanda Gude & Melanie Nielsen; Sprint Medley squad – Johnk, Holmes, Hartwig & Berry.

The Trojanns travel to Creston next Monday.
