308 PM CDT SUN APR 8 2012 …FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WATCH, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL COOL SIGNIFICANTLY OVERNIGHT MONDAY, REACHING SUB FREEZING VALUES BY EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.

TEMPERATURES MAY REMAIN BELOW FREEZING FOR SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE QUICKLY WARMING AFTER SUNRISE TUESDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP BELOW FREEZING, WITH READINGS IN THE LOW TO MID 20S EXPECTED. COLDEST TEMPERATURES WILL BE GENERALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 20, IN LOW LYING AREAS AND ALONG THE NISHNABOTNA RIVER VALLEY.

A FREEZE WATCH MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE. THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
