Top-ranked Lisbon won the first state football title in school history with a 14-12 victory over No. 2 West Hancock in the Class A final at the UNI-Dome Friday.  Lisbon ended the championship season with a perfect 14-0 mark and its first appearance in the final.
Lisbon trailed West Hancock late in the third quarter, but Quarterback Ben Knake tied the score at 12-12 with a 1-yard TD run. The Lions took a 14-12 lead when Knake connected on a two-point conversion pass to Seth Hall.
West Hancock then marched down to the Lisbon 5-yard line but the drive ended on fourth down and five when quarterback Eric Cox’s pass was intercepted in the end zone by Lisbon’s Skylar Ellerbach.
