Atlantic Team Wins Iowa Games Basketball Title

A group of Atlantic high school students teamed up to win the 5-on-5 varsity basketball title at the Iowa Games.  Playing on Saturday, the team made up of Dalton Franken, Sam Markham, Sam Renaud, Chad Christensen, Harrison Hoegh and Stuart Hoegh won three games held at Ames High School.  After easily beating a team from Gilbert in the first round, the Atlantic squad won their semi-final round game 58-56 over the Iowa Central Elite team from Cedar Rapids.  They then beat Triple Threat of the Ballard-Huxley area 59-56 in the championship game.  These mostly juniors-to-be will make up the core of the Atlantic varsity basketball team this winter.  They were coached by Greg Franken.
