(Atlantic, IA) – Strong storms formed late Sunday night into early Monday morning across parts of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. The National Weather Service in Omaha reports one-inch diameter (Quarter-size) hail fell just before midnight in the Harrison County town of Woodbine. And, a 63-mph gust of wind was recorded by a personal weather station four-miles west/northwest of Oakland, a little after 2-a.m.
KETV in Omaha says Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) officials reported 1,400 people were without electricity at the height of the storms. By 4-a.m., the number of customers without power were down to less than a dozen. Mid American Energy reports fewer than one-half dozen customers were without power at around the same time.
