(Griswold, IA) – The Griswold School Board held their regular monthly meeting Monday evening, June 15th. Superintendent Dave Henrichs said with regard to Personnel, the District is still looking to fill a couple of slots before the school year begins in late August.
The Board received and approved a resignation, and the hires of new personnel.
Henrichs updated the Board on a flooring project and related asbestos abatement issue that will cost the District $53,300..an unexpected expenditure.
The flooring company had some concerns over possible asbestos not only in the floor tile, but the adhesive that secures the tile to the floor.

To be on the safe side, the District had the areas in question re-tested, and the same company and lab that performed the original tests that showed no indication of asbestos, came back this time with “positive” results.
The Board later on in their agenda approved the asbestos abated, and they accepted a bid from a company that specializes in that process, which will begin June 29th. Henrichs said he was disappointed to learn the test results were not the same as originally shown. In other business, the Griswold School Board approved the purchase of 100 Chromebook laptop computers at a cost of $38,800.
They also agreed to an increase in the student school lunch fee for 2026-27.
And, while the Board approved the bid specifications for Bakery, Dairy, Snow and Trash Removal, they rejected the fuel bids due to an improper bid submission that made it impossible to compare the bids “apples to apples,” Henrichs said. They are asking prospective bidders to resubmit their bids for consideration during the Board’s meeting in July.
