(Atlantic, IA) – Update 8-3-2026 @ 7PM: Officials with the Cass County Communications Center said Monday evening, that they are still having issues with their phone lines, and apologize for the inconvenience. The Comm. Center says right now, there isn’t anything they can do to fix the issues. The have been in communication with Verizon and Century Link and will provide an update on the Cass County Public Safety Communications Facebook page when more information is available.
As originally posted early Sunday morning, officials said:
“We have been made aware that some callers are experiencing issues reaching the Cass County Communications Center (712-243-2204), the Atlantic Police Department (712-243-3512), and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (712-243-2206).
We are currently conducting additional testing, but at this time we believe the issue may be related to a Verizon and CenturyLink routing problem. We have experienced a similar issue in the past, where Verizon phones were unable to complete calls to CenturyLink landlines.
If this is determined to be a carrier routing issue, it will unfortunately be outside of our control to correct. We are continuing to investigate and will provide updates as we learn more.
If you are unable to reach us by phone and have an emergency or need to reach us, please call 911, as there is no know issue with that service.”
