ATLANTIC, IA (June 14, 2026) – June 18 at Produce in the Park is Island Night, a theme chosen to highlight the various island cultures that influence the United States and the local community. Island Night will feature a hula showcase by members of the local Micronesian and Pacific Island community.
Hula is a traditional dance found in several island cultures that is passed down between generations of women. Hula is defined by sinuous (waving) motions of the body, sometimes to convey stories or emotion. Contemporary hula utilizes traditional or contemporary songs with different tones and rhythms, and dancers of all ages can learn or teach hula to others.

About 0.5% of Americans identify as Pacific Islander according to a 2026 article by the Pew Research Center, titled “Key facts about Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in the U.S..” One of Produce in the Park’s several goals is to build community, and highlighting the cultural experiences of community members is one way the market brings neighbors together.
Entertainment for the June 18 market doesn’t stop at hula. Your Forte will be providing a free island-themed Art-in-the-Park activity, and sponsor Community First Credit Union will be providing free lawnmower train rides for children.
Food trucks for the June 18 market include The Egg Roll Ladies – a first-time visitor to the market – Pho Wheels and Sushi, Teeny Weeny Weiner Wagon and Lucky Wife Wine Slushies. Online preorders for Pho Wheels and Sushi will open Tuesday morning; the event location must be set to Produce in the Park before the order can be finished. Preorders can be made at https://foodtruck.pub/?id=12596.
The June 18 market will also highlight leafy greens of all kinds as the featured produce for the day, which includes lettuce, spinach and kale, all of which will be for sale at the June 18 market and are highly flexible and easily included into everyday diets.
