Northern Iowa coach Todd Stepsis will go up against his former school when the Panthers open their home schedule against Drake. Sepsis was the head coach of the Bulldogs from 2019-2024 and led the team to back-to-back Pioneer Football League championships before taking the UNI job.
Stepsis has a lot of great memories from his time at Drake.
The Panthers are coming off a season opening 34-24 loss at Eastern Washington. It was a game UNI led 24-20 at halftime.
The ground game suffered in the opener. The Panthers managed only 63 yards of rushing.
