Adair County Supervisors approve drafting a 28-E agreement for Public Health services w/Guthrie Co.

(Greenfield, IA) – The Adair County Board of Supervisors today (Wednesday), resumed discussion with regard to a proposed Public Health position with Guthrie County. Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber proposed a “Step-wise”approach to a services agreement between the Guthrie County and Adair County Public Health Departments.

The agreement would be similar to one Guthrie County has with Audubon County, and would be working with the already established FY 27budget in Adair County.

He said he wants to begin by conducting an assessment of what’s already in-place in Adair County, because of the regionalization happening at the State level.

He says if the State awards the regional center hub to another county, local officials will have to reassess the contract. Arber said they are not in a position to hire anyone as a Director at this point in time.

The Adair County Board of Health met Tuesday, May 26th, and unanimously agreed in a motion, to move forward with a proposed one-year, 28-E Agreement with Guthrie County. The agreement, officials say, maintains a local presence and staff in Adair County, and ensures continuity of staff moving forward.

The next steps are for the Guthrie County Board of Health to agree to the arrangement, and would be implemented using a template for services until a more permanent funding mechanism is in-place, including any grant dollars award to the Adair County Hospital. The entities must also determine, eventually, where the home-base for the Adair County Public Health Office would be. Currently, that’s the hospital in Greenfield.

The Supervisors approved moving ahead with drafting the 28-E Agreement and proceeding to the next steps as proposed. In other business, the Board approved a motor vehicle clerk new hire for the Treasurer’s Office, a fireworks application for the Adair County Fair, a liquor license ownership change and a liquor license renewal.
