Iowa defense prepares for Northwestern

An Iowa defense that is giving up just over 12 points per game will be challenged by a Northwestern offense that is ranked second in the Big Ten when the 21st ranked Hawkeyes visit Northwestern on Saturday. It begins the stretch run for an Iowa team that is 6-2 on the season.

That’s Hawkeye safety Zach Lutmer, who says a Northwestern offense that averages more than 33 points per game will give the Hawkeyes a variety of looks.

Containing Northwestern dual threat quarterback Aidan Chiles will be a key. Two years ago while at Michigan State, Chiles torched the Iowa defense for 256 yards of passing and another 51 on the ground in a 32-20 Spartan win. Hawkeye defensive end Kenneth Merriweather.
