It was all Tigers on Thursday night in Stanton as Griswold/CAM moved to 11-2 with a 20-0 victory over the Stanton Viqueens. Keeley Kinney was the starting pitcher for the Tigers and went all 4 innings allowing no runs and striking out 8. Offensively, it was a 2-out barrage in the first inning with Griswold/CAM scoring all 8 of their runs with two away. They went on to pile 12 more on over the next three innings to secure the run rule victory. They collected 17 hits and only left three runners on base.
The first inning, like all four innings, was all Tigers. What made the first inning unique was the 2-out offense from Griswold/CAM. Stanton retired two of the first three batters, but the next seven Tigers would reach and score, including three straight singles by Courtney Follman, Aylah Wahlert and Ashten Dorsey. Follman would finish the day going 2-3.
The second inning only brought in three Tigers, with the first of two triples on the day fro Keely Kinney driving in Ailey Baxter. Baxter and Wahlert each collected a hit that inning while Ashten Dorsey reached via a walk and would later score. The Tigers went on the score nine runs over the next two innings to seal the deal and get up to 20 runs. Keeley Kinney’s two triples and an Amanda Houser double in the first inning were the only extra base hits on the night for the Tigers, but the consistent singles and base runners allowed them to be scoring runs at a very high clip. Coach Jody Rossell credits the offense’s discipline for their win over Stanton.
