IOWA CITY, Iowa – Braelynn Galt has announced her commitment to the University of Iowa women’s soccer team, head coach Dean Ward announced on Tuesday.
Galt, originally in the class of 2027, reclassified to the class of 2026 and will join the Hawkeyes this fall. Galt most recently competed with the Tampa Bay Sun in the USL Super League while also playing with Florida Premier in the ECNL.
Galt, a goalkeeper, was called up to the Scotland U17 Women’s National team when she was just 13 years old, making her national team debut at the Pinatar Cup in Alicante, Spain. Since then, she has represented Scotland across the U16, U17, and U19 levels, earning 25 starts while also serving as team captain.
“We are delighted to add Braelynn to our goalkeeper unit,” said Ward. “She brings an elite mentality and experience from her time with the Scotland national team set up. She has also spent time in an elite training environment domestically which will have her prepared for the environment here at Iowa. We are excited to work with Braelynn and welcome her to Iowa City this fall.”
Galt most recently signed an amateur professional contract with the Tampa Bay Sun in the USL Super League while competing with Florida Premier in the ECNL. Galt was homeschooled throughout high school due to her heavy travel with soccer.

Having the opportunity to re-class as a 2026 is incredibly exciting, and I’m grateful that Coach Dean and Coach Noah Smith have the confidence in me to come in and make an impact. I believe Iowa is the perfect place for me to continue developing both on and off the field as I prepare for the next stage of my life. I have so much respect for the staff and student-athletes who represent this program, and I am proud to be a Hawkeye.”
