Atlantic City Council to act on: bid letting for the W. 15th St. Extension Project; Library Board appointments and temporary parking restrictions for the Cass County Fair

(Atlantic, IA) – The Atlantic City Council will meet in a regular session this Wednesday, July 15th, beginning at 5:30-p.m. in their Chambers at City Hall. Among the action items on their agenda, is passage of a Resolution authorizing bid-letting for the W. 15th Street Extension Project, and setting August 5th at 5:30-p.m., as the date and time for a public hearing on the matter,

In his agenda notes, City Administrator John Lund says Jim LaPorte – owner of Mudslayer Manufacturing – the products for which are used for drilling water wells, has proposed construction of a 13,920 square-foot light industrial building, which would serve as the assembly location for parts produced in two other Iowa facilities. The proposed site is west of Sunnyside Lane, east of SW 7th Street, and behind the new veterinary clinic. The proposed extension project is expected to cost $200,000 to $300,000, and was approved by the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission, on June 9th.

In other business, the Atlantic City Council will act on Orders to re-appoint Cyndi Hartwig and the appointment of Laura Freund, both to the Library Board of Trustees. And, the Council will act on an Order to temporarily restrict parking on Palm Street, from 7th St., to the dead end, extending south of 10th Street, from 6-a.m. on July 25th, to 6-a.m. on July 26th, on both sides of the streets, for the Cass County Fair. The Order has traditionally been approved by the Council upon requests by the Fair Board, in order to effectively control traffic, and maintain an orderly environment around the fairgrounds.
