Johnston, Iowa – The Iowa National Guard will host a sendoff ceremony on Monday, July 13, at 10 a.m. honoring approximately 80 Soldiers assigned to the 734th Regional Support Group (RSG) as they prepare for a year-long deployment in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
The ceremony will be held at the 132d Wing at the Des Moines International Airport. Because the ceremony is being conducted on a military installation, attendance is limited to invited family members, close friends and accredited members of the media. The event is not open to the general public.
The Soldiers will be deploying to the United States European Command area of responsibility. During their deployment, the 734th RSG headquarters will operate from Camp Kosciuszko, Poland, providing Base Camp Operating Support-Integration (BOS-I) at eight locations throughout Poland and at sites in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Their mission will support the operational readiness of U.S. and multinational forces stationed across the Baltic region.
Operation Atlantic Resolve supports rotational deployments of U.S. forces across Europe, demonstrating America’s commitment to NATO allies and partners while strengthening readiness, interoperability and regional security.
“The men and women of the 734th Regional Support Group are answering the call to serve alongside our allies and partners in Europe,” said Major General Stephen Osborn, Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard. “As they deploy for the coming year, we are grateful for their commitment and equally thankful for the families whose support makes their service possible.”
