(Atlantic, IA) – The Iowa State Patrol has released information about a person who died during the March 15th blizzard that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash in Cass County. As we reported, the crash occurred at around 5:45-p.m. on Interstate 80 westbound, at mile marker 59.
A passenger in a 2023 Jeep that was involved in the collisions, 54-year-old Amy Lynn Jurrens, of George, Iowa, was transported to Cass Health in Atlantic by Cass EMS, were she died from her injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. The Jeep was driven by 56-year-old Jerry Ray Jurrens, of George. He was not injured.
Aside from the Jeep, the crash involved:
- A 2024 Freightliner semi, driven by a man from La Prairie, Quebec, Canada
- A 2024 Peterbilt semi, driven by a man from Grand Prairie, TX
- A 2019 Volvo truck driven by a man from Sacramento, CA
- A 2019 Chevy passenger car driven by a woman from Stryker, OH
- A 2017 Dodge passenger car driven by a woman from Napoleon, OH.
- A 2020 Nissan passenger car driven by a man from LaVista, NE
The accident remained under investigation.
