No. 5 Hawkeyes Draw with USC, 2-2

LOS ANGELES — The No. 5 University of Iowa women’s soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against USC on Sunday night at Rawlinson Stadium. The Hawkeyes move to 10-3-4 on the season and 5-2-3 in Big Ten Conference play.
USC took the lead in the 17th minute after being awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Maribel Flores converted on the penalty kick to make it, 1-0, then doubled the Trojan lead in the 22nd minute to give USC a, 2-0, advantage at the break.
Sophomore Berkley Binggeli put Iowa on the board in the 49th minute, cutting the deficit to, 2-1, with her fourth goal of the season.
Senior Morgan Lietz netted the equalizer in the 70th minute off assists from senior Kellen Fife and graduate student Kelli McGroarty. It marked Lietz’s first goal of the season.
The Hawkeyes outshot the Trojans, 10-2, in the second half and had a shot in the final seconds that sailed high.
