Iowa Wraps Up Second Round at Fallen Oak

BILOXI, Miss. –The University of Iowa men’s golf team sits in 12th place following the second round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate on Sunday at Fallen Oak Golf Club. The Hawkeyes posted a team score of one-under-par 287 and are three-over through 36 holes.
Sophomore Chance Rinkol led the way with a two-under-par 70, highlighted by three birdies on the front nine to card a 34. He added an even-par 36 on the back to move into a tie for 26th individually.
Junior Max Tjoa matched Rinkol’s two-under 70, recording four birdies on the front nine before playing even-par golf on every hole on the back side. He also sits tied for 26th heading into the final round.
Freshman Bennett Warren turned in an even-par 72, birdieing three of his first six holes on the front nine. He sits tied for 42nd at one-over for the tournament.
Redshirt freshman Grant Gudgel shot a three-over 75, while senior Gage Messingham added a six-over 78 to round out the Hawkeye lineup.

“It’s great to see the team respond with a solid under par round. The wind was completely opposite from yesterday so the course played much different. The team adjusted well and made good decisions. We need to get all five guys going tomorrow. We have an opportunity to move up with a good round.”
