“Proud Past, Bright Future” for the Audubon County Fair

(Audubon, IA) – The Audubon County runs July 14th through the 19th, with many activities sandwiched in each day, as well as lots of opportunities to eat some traditional fair food. Amanda Buck, Audubon County Outreach and Extension Assistant, says there aren’t many changed with regard to the livestock shows, except for those pertaining to the Sheep/Goat and Swine shows. That’s because the number of kids and their animals who are participating have really grown over the past year.

The 4-H/FFA Horse Show takes place Thursday morning at the Audubon County Fair.

The Poultry and Sheep Shows are on Friday. The theme for this year’s fair is “Proud Past, Bright Future.”

Some of the entertainment in-store for visitors to the Audubon County Fair, include a cornhole tournament, Putt-Putt Golf, Mini-Motor Madness, and Grass Clippin’ Classic, both of which take place Thursday at the Race Track on the fairgrounds. The grass clipping Classic, Buck says, is new this year.

The Mini-van races were added last year, and they’ll be back this Friday night, along with the Figure * races, and Mechanical Bull Riding. The younger kids will enjoy the Big Wheels races Saturday afternoon, and everyone will get a kick out of the IRCA Rodeo Saturday night.

Sunday’s activities at the Audubon County Fair include: A Tractor Drive; Horse Fun Show; Antique Tractor Pull and Antique Road Show; Carriage Rides; a Beef Feed and Pie Contest. The Fair will end Sunday with the Livestock Support Sale and release of the exhibits.
