Northern Iowa coach Todd Stepsis feels it is a good time for a bye week. The Panthers are 2-2 after a 28-21 win over third ranked Illinois State to open Missouri Valley play. It was UNI’s first win over a top five opponent since 2021.
It was a big win for a program that has posed back-to-back 3-9 seasons.
Stepsis says while happy with the win the Panthers are not satisfied.

The Panthers will return to action on October 10th by hosting fifth ranked North Dakota. The Panthers are 2-2 and receiving votes in the latest STATS FCS Top 25.
