IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Aurélie Tran will compete at the NCAA Championships on the uneven bars in the Semifinals inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Team semifinal and individual competition will be conducted in two sessions Thursday, April 16, at 3:30 and 7 p.m. (CT).
Tran punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships after capturing the NCAA Corvallis Regional bars title with a program-record 10.0 on April 3. The career-high performance made her the top individual on the event among teams not advancing to the championships.
The Repentigny, Quebec, native is the 12th Hawkeye in program history to qualify for the national meet and the first since Adeline Kenlin in 2022. Tran is also the first Iowa gymnast to qualify on bars since Alexis Maday in 2003.
The first-team All-Big Ten honoree led the Hawkeyes with seven bars titles this season, including a share of the Big Ten event title (9.950). She also earned second-team All-America honors in both the all-around and on bars.
The NCAA Championships will be televised live on ESPN2.
HEAR FROM HEAD COACH JEN LLEWELLYN
“I am just extremely elated for her, as it’s an incredible honor. We knew she was capable of getting a 10 all season. This is the same bar routine she trains every single day in the arena, working hard to perfect it. For that effort to come to fruition at the regional championships and receive a 10.0 from all four judges in the postseason is incredibly hard to do. It speaks volumes to her character and her work ethic. It’s huge for the program and truly puts us on the map.”
