Playing in front of the home crowd once again after defending home turf last week, the Riverside Bulldogs carry a 7-2 record and plenty of momentum into the contest following a dominant 48-14 victory over Earlham. The Bulldogs return to their home turf this Friday for a high-stakes postseason matchup, welcoming district rival St. Albert to Oakland for a massive Class A second-round playoff showdown. St. Albert has already won against the Bulldogs earlier this season 31-21. Head Coach Tyler Johannsen says this game isn’t about revenge.
Riverside’s high-powered offense continues to operate through senior quarterback Peyton Amdor, who orchestrates the attack with 853 passing yards and 6 touchdowns while adding 287 rushing yards and 5 scores on the ground. The backfield is anchored by sophomore standout Mason Houser, who has put together an incredible season with 1,651 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns on 184 carries. Out wide, senior playmaker Cole Jeppesen serves as a dynamic threat, hauling in 456 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns while also contributing 242 rushing yards and 3 scores.
Defensively, the Bulldogs bring a physical, disruptive unit featuring 399.0 total tackles, a staggering 58.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles, and 5 interceptions. The Bulldogs look to limit mistakes this game, as both teams have no secrets against each other from playing each other in the regular season. Coach Johannsen believes that they need to play their style of football and taking care of the football is their key to win the game.
The Riverside Bulldogs take on the St. Albert Falcons in the second round of Class A playoffs. Coverage of the game will be on KJAN Radio with pregame starting around 6:30 P.M. and kickoff at 7:00 P.M.
