The Riverside Bulldogs were one of the Cinderellas of Class 1A this season. They finished the regular season with an 11-10 record but rattled off three really impressive district tournament victories. They defeated Stanton 70-27, then beat 19-3 Southwest Valley in the semifinal and turned around four days later and beat 19-4 Bedford in the district championship. The Bulldogs were led by junior Peyton Amdor who had a phenomenal postseason that included a triple double vs Stanton and a 28-point, 20 rebound game vs SW Valley. Head Coach Nick Kroon easily grades this season as a successful one.
The Bulldogs finished just 6-9 in their final 15 regular season games, but they knew they had the talent to do damage in the postseason:
Peyton Amdor was awarded First Team All-Western Iowa for his efforts in the regular season. He topped that off by having a monster postseason. Coach Kroon is proud of how Peyton grew from last season into who he was this year:
Riverside had a massive junior class this season, which means they will have a ton of experience heading into the 26-27 season. Coach Kroon is excited as he looks ahead to what they can accomplish:
The 2026 Riverside Bulldogs came within one win of state and finished 14-10. They had three All-Western Iowa representatives with Peyton Amdor making First Team and Cole Jeppesen and Dawson Henderson named Honorable Mentions. Brody and Dawson Henderson, along with Dane Martens, were the seniors of this 2026 group.
