The first of two days of practice and Pro-Ams at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines is underway leading up to Friday’s opening round of the Principal Charity Classic. The tournament will have another top heavy field. Eight of the top ten money winners in the PGA Tour Champions are scheduled to take part.
That’s tournament director Alex McCarty who says a different date this year has helped attract even more of the top golfers on the tour.
It has become one of the top annual events on the tour. Ken McCullum is chairman of the board for the Principal Charity Classic.
McCullum says the location of the Wakonda Club between the airport and downtown Des Moines make it easy for the players.
