Northern Iowa basketball coach Kyle Green hopes the expansion of the NCAA Tournament will help the Missouri Valley Conference get additional teams into the field. The NCAA announced the tournament is expanding to 76 teams next season. The Valley has not had multiple teams in the field since Loyola of Chicago got the automatic bid and Drake got an at-large bid in 2021.
Scheduling is part of earning at-large bids but these days getting on the schedule of power conference opponents can be difficult.
Green is trying to put together a challenging schedule for the Panthers next season.
