The fourth ranked Iowa State and seventh ranked Iowa wrestling teams are set for Thursday’s start of the NCAA Championships in Cleveland. The Cyclones are coming off a runner-up finish at the Big 12 meet to third ranked Oklahoma State.
That’s ISU coach Kevin Dresser, who feels his team is poised for a good weekend.
The Cyclones qualified all 10 wrestlers for the tournament.
The Hawkeyes qualified nine wrestlers after finishing a distant fourth at the Big Ten Championships.
That’s Iowa coach Tom Brands, who says the entire lineup will need to step up this week.
A pleasant surprise at the Big Ten meet was the performance of 141-pounder Nasir) Bailey. He finished third after being sidelined since January with a hand injury.
