No. 4 Iowa State and No. 7 Iowa set for NCAA Wrestling Championships

The fourth ranked Iowa State and seventh ranked Iowa wrestling teams are set for Thursday’s start of the NCAA Championships in Cleveland. The Cyclones are coming off a runner-up finish at the Big 12 meet to third ranked Oklahoma State.

That’s ISU coach Kevin Dresser, who feels his team is poised for a good weekend.

The Cyclones qualified all 10 wrestlers for the tournament.

The Hawkeyes qualified nine wrestlers after finishing a distant fourth at the Big Ten Championships.

That’s Iowa coach Tom Brands, who says the entire lineup will need to step up this week.

A pleasant surprise at the Big Ten meet was the performance of 141-pounder Nasir) Bailey. He finished third after being sidelined since January with a hand injury.
