Kyle Green was formally introduced as the new men’s basketball coach at Northern Iowa. Green spent the last five year’s on T.J. Otzelberger’s staff at Iowa State and he had served 16 seasons as a UNI assistant under Greg McDermott and Ben Jacobson. He replaces Jacobson, who resigned after 20 years to become the new coach at Utah State.
Green takes over a Panther program that has been to the NCAA Tournament eight times in the last 23 years.
Jacobson led the Panthers to five trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a memorable run to the Sweet Sixteen in 2010.
Green says under him the UNI program will be competitive and selfless.
