Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz hopes the Hawkeyes finally have the talent on offense to hang with Michigan. The Wolverines have won the las four games in the series and in those four games Iowa has scored a total of 20 points. It incliudes two blowout losses in the Big Ten Championship game. The 17th ranked Hawkeyes visit the 18th ranked Wolverines on Saturday in the Big Ten opener for both.
Ferentz says the Michigan defense has been impressive in a 3-0 start to the season.
A young Iowa defense will face its most severe test of the season against Wolverine sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood.
Ferentz says the health situation is improving. Defensive lineman Bryce Hawthorne has returned to practice after injuring his knee against UNI while running backs Kamari Moulton ands L.J. Phillips and tight end DJ Vonnahme (voh-Nah-mee) missed Saturday’s game due to injury.
