Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says sophomore Jeremy Hecklinski brings an air of confidence to the quarterback battle in spring drills. The former transfer from Wake Forest appeared in two games last season and became the backup for Mark Gronowski. He is competing with Hank Brown to become the new starter.
Hecklinski has been describe by some of his teammates as a gunslinger.
Ferentz says there is no timetable for naming a starting quarterback.
