Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz names a starting QB and previews Minnesota

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says Jeremy Hecklinski wll start at quarterback on Saturday when the 15th ranked Hawkeyes visit Minnesota. Hecklinski filled in for the injured Hank Brown and finished 14-of-19 for 202 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-24 win at Washington. Brown led the Hawkeyes to 4-1 record before suffering a sprained shoulder in a loss to Ohio State.

Ferentz says Brown is healthy and the decision to go with Hecklinski was made over the weekend.

Ferentz says there is no plan going into the game to use both.

The HJawkeyes take a 5-1 record into a second half schedule that Ferentz says is filled with tough challenges.

Ferentz says the Hawkeyes expect to face the Gopher team that beat Michigan and Washington and not the one that lost at Purdue.
