Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz at Big Ten Media Days

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says Iowa’s quarterback battle may extend into the start of the season. Jeremy Hecklinski and Hank Brown both spent part of last season as the backup to Mark Gronowski.

The competition will resume when fall camp opens next Wednesday.

Ferentz is entering his 28th season as the Hawkeye coach and says the feeling heading into the state of fall camp never changes.

With recent changes in college football, including the transfer portal, Ferentz says summer workouts have become even more important.

Ferentz made his comments at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago. The Hawkeyes open the season at home on September fifth against Northern Illinois.
