Iowa basketball coach Ben McCollum is not focused on expectations as summer workouts continue. The Hawkeyes finished 24-13 in McCollum’s first season as head coach and made a run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
The tournament run was the program’s deepest in 40 years, but there is room for improvement after a ninth place finish in the Big Ten.
McCollum says the Hawkeyes have added size and better shooting, but replacing All Big Ten point guard Bennett Stirtz will be difficult.
McCollum says it may be into the season before a go-to player at crunch time emerges.
