Iowa women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen is used to high expectations. Jensen enters her third season as head coach with six newcomers joining five returnees from a team that posted 27 wins and finished second in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes have averaged more than 29 wins the last four seasons and will likely be ranked in the top ten when the new season begins.
Jensen does not mind the lofty preseason ranking.
Jensen says it is a new era and a new challenge for the Hawkeyes. There are no players remaining from the Iowa teams that played in two straight national championship games.
Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be sold out on a season ticket basis for the fourth straight year and Jensen says that is one of the reasons the program is attractive to high profile transfers and high school recruits.
The Hawkeyes open the regular season at home on November second against Towson.
