Iowa TE D.J. Vonnahme on his breakout season

Iowa tight end D.J. Vonnahme (Voh-NAH-me) expects to receive more attention from opposing defenses this season. The former Carroll Kuemper star was not even on the depth chart to start last season but finished as the Hawkeye’s leading receiver with 29 catches, including three for touchdowns. That included seven receptions for 146 yards and a score in a Relia Quest Bowl win over Vanderbilt.

Vonnahme has gone from an unknown to one of the highest ranked tight ends on the latest EA Sports College Football game.

With Addison Ostrenga (oh-strain-guh) returning from an Achilles injury, tight end may be the Hawkeyes most talented position group.

The Hawkeyes open the season at home on September fifth against Northern Illinois.
