Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers is confident he has put together a competitive roster for the upcoming season. After spending one season at Washington State, Rogers rebuilt the Cyclone roster after Matt Campbell left to take the job at Penn State. It is his second straight roster rebuild.
Rogers made his comments at Big 12 Media Days in suburban Dallas. He does not consider this a rebuilding year for a program that has posted eight winning seasons in the last nine years.
Rogers named Jaylon Raynor as ISU’s starting quarterback heading into fall camp. Raynor transferred to ISU from Arkansas State.
Rogers hopes to see the Cy-Hawk series against Iowa continue. There are only two years remaining on the current contract and it has yet to be extended.
The Cyclones open the season at home on September fifth against Southeast Missouri.
