Iowa State Wraps Series with No. 2 Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – Iowa State (21-13, 3-6) wrapped its weekend series with No. 2 Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Red Raiders by a score of 17-6 in five innings.

A disastrous second inning defensively by the Cyclones fueled the 11-run TTU win. ISU had four errors in the game and three in the second inning, leading to just six of the 17 runs being earned.

Iowa State’s bats had their best outing of the weekend, as ISU plated six runs on five hits – three of which were homers. Kadence Shepherd had a team-high four RBI, mashing her third homer of the weekend and first career grand slam. Reagan Bartholomew had the other two RBI, pounding a pair of solo homers.

Lauren Schurman (11-4) started the game for ISU, while Jaiden Ralston, Ava Mullen and Haily Holtz also saw the circle.

Tech plated 17 runs on 14 hits, using five homers to power the offense. Mihyia Davis had three hits and a pair of homers, while Jackie Lis also had a trio of knocks. In the circle, Samantha Lincoln (7-0) earned the win.
