Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger says Joshua Jefferson’s availability will be a game time decision. The All America forward suffered an ankle injury early in the Cyclone’s NCAA Tournament opener against Tennessee State. ISU plays Tennessee Friday night in Chicago in the Sweet Sixteen.
Otzelberger says the decision will be made by Jefferson.
Senior guard Nate Heise stepped into the starting lineup for Jefferson in a second round win over Kentucky and finished with 12 points.
The game will feature a pair of outstanding point guards in Iowa State’s Tamin Lipsey and Tennessee’s Ja’Kobi Gillespie.
Tennessee is the top offensive rebounding team in the country and Lipsey says the Cyclone guards need to help on the glass.
Nate Heise says with Jefferson out of the lineup he was looking to carry more of the scoring load.
