Iowa State offensive lineman Caden Maas (moss) says joining the Cyclone program has helped him fulfill a dream. The native of Watertown, Wisconsin, began his career at Division II Sioux Falls and transferred to ISU after former coach Matt Campbell left for Penn State. Maas is hoping to earn playing time for a team that has no starters returning from last season.
Maas says the biggest adjustment during spring drills is the tempo of the game.
Maas feels with a nearly entire new roster, everybody is competing for playing time.
The list of players excelling at the power four level after transferring from a small school is lengthy. Maas hopes to add his name to that list.
Cyclone offensive line coach Jake Thornton says Maas is one of several players from smaller schools looking for a spot in the two deep.
Thornton says the players coming from smaller schools are adjusting to the new level of play. *
