Iowa State defensive coordinator Jesse Bobbit says spring drills is about installing a new defense while building a depth chart. Bobbit is installing a new four man front the Cyclones will use in their first season under new head coach Jimmy Rodgers.
Bobbit says spring is also a time for players to compete for a spot on the depth chart.
The new system is one defensive tackle Bryson Lamb used last season while starting all 12 games at Washington State.
Lamb is confident the Cyclones will have a strong defense.
