Iowa State football coach Jimmy Rogers says the competition at quarterback has narrowed in the second half of spring drills to senior Jaylen Raynor and redshirt sophomore Zane Flores. Raynor started all 13 games at Arkansas State last season before transferring to ISU. Flores transferred from Oklahoma State, where he started eight games last year.
Rogers says the priority early in spring for both quarterbacks was to install the offense.
Rogers announced transfer safety Braden Awls will miss all of next season after suffering an ACL injury in practice. Awls was an All Conference standout at Toledo last season.
The Cyclones will close spring drills on April 25th.
