The Jimmy Rodgers era for Iowa State football takes another step on Thursday with the start of spring drills. Rodgers took over after Matt Campbell became the new coach at Penn State. Rodgers spent the past season as the head coach at Washington State.
Rodgers has seen a lot of growth through winter workouts. Graduation or transfer left ISU with no returning starters off last year’s team that finished 8-4.
Rodgers says with so many new players, building team chemistry has been important.
Rodgers says spring football for a new coach is about setting the standards and expectations for the program.
Spring drills will conclude with an open practice for fans on April 25th and Rodgers says it could include a controlled scrimmage.
