Iowa State’s defense is working to build an identity for the upcoming season. The Cyclones will feature a four-man front under new coach Jimmy Rogers. After playing the last three seasons at Washington State, senior defensive tackle Bryson Lamb followed Rogers to ISU.
Lamb says the new defense will be based on physical play.
Lamb says it can take time to build an identity.
Middle linebacker Sullivan Schlimgen played in 13 games as a freshman at Washington State before transferring to Iowa State. He says the Cyclones want to be known as a physical defense.
Schlimgen says the new four man front will require the linebackers to play sideline to sideline.
Schlimgen says with experience the defense will get even better and he says there have been major strides since spring ball.
The Cyclones open the season September fifth at home against Southeast Missouri.
