Iowa State DB David Coffey on spring drills

A new defense with mostly new players is being installed as Iowa State begins the final week of spring football drills. ISU will play a four man front under new coach Jimmy Rogers and defensive coordinator Jesse Bobbit. Sophomore corner David Coffey played in nine games and made one start last season. He was one of the more experienced players to sign on with the new coaching staff.

Coffey says for the corners the new defense will require more man-to-man coverage and they will be asked to play different spots on the field.

Coffey feels their is depth and talent at the corners.

Rogers says the play of the corners this spring has been a highlight on defense.

The Cyclones close spring with an open practice on Saturday.
