Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers on goals for the defense

Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers believes some lofty goals for the Cyclone defense are attainable. The ISU defense wants to limit opponents to 14 points per game. In Rogers lone season at Washington State, the Cougars gave up just over 20 points per game in posting a 7-6 record.

Rogers says the key is getting the players to believe it is possible.

For a team that wants to play low scoring, low possession games, special teams become ever more important. Because of that, Rogers plans to use starters on many of the units.

The Cyclones open the season at home on September fifth against Southeast Missouri.
