Iowa out of AP Top 25

Iowa has been jettisoned from the AP Top 25. The Hawkeyes are 5-2 after a mistake filled, 13-10 walk off loss at Minnesota. Not only was the offense a no-show but the Hawkeyes committed four turnovers, had a punt blocked and were offsides on a fourth down stop at the one that led to the Gophers lone touchdown.

That’s Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, who went to Hank Brown at quarterback in the first half after starter Jeremy Hecklinski was picked off in the red zone and nearly intercepted a second time prior to Iowa’s second quarter field goal. Brown was intercepted twice.

The Hawkeyes will need to find a way to fix an anemic run game that generated only 90 yards and figure out how to address the situation at quaterback.

The Hawkeyes host 25th ranked Wisconsin on Saturday.
