Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester says there is no timetable for naming a starting quarterback. Junior Hank Brown and sophomore Jeremy Hecklinski are competing to replace Mark Gronowski under center. Brown is a transfer from Auburn and Hecklinski began his career at Wake Forest.
Lester believes having two capable starters is a plus. In his first season as offensive coordinator in 2024, injuries forced the Hawkeyes to use three different starting quarterbacks.
Lester says the competition is close.
Lester says both quarterbacks have shored up their areas of weakness.
The Hawkeyes close spring drills on Saturday with an open practice.
