Iowa native Zach Johnson will highlight next week’s field at the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines. The 12-time winner on the PGA Tour and two time major winner has made an immediate impact on the PGA Tour Champions since reaching the age of 50. In six starts, Johnson has one win, a second place finish as well as a third place finish.
That’s Alex McCarty, tournament director of the Principal Charity Classic, who feels the tournament is a great fit for the Cedar Rapids native.
Johnson joins a field that always includes many of the top players.
McCarty says Johnson’s inclusion has created added buzz leading up to the tournament.
Johnson won the Masters in 2007 and in 2015 won a playoff to capture the British Open.
