Iowa native Zach Johnson returns to the Wakonda Club

Zach Johnson has had the Principal Charity Classic circled on his calendar since joining the PGA Tour Champions. The Cedar Rapids native and 12-time winner on the PGA Tour played the Wakonda Club for the first time since 1998 this week. He was a college standout at Drake.

Johnson says his Drake teams got the chance to play Wakonda frequently.

Since turning 50, Johnson has quickly adapted to the PGA Tour Champions. He has one win, seven top ten finishes and ranks second on the money list.

Johnson says there was a time in his career when he would have felt the pressure to perform well in returning to his home state. That won’t be a problem this week.

Johnson on enjoying this week.

Johnson won the Masters in 2007 and captured the British Open title in 2015.
